How important is it in your life?
For me, my support team sometimes lifts me up, sometimes pushes me forward but all of the time walks with me through my career journey. I couldn't imagine not having them.
Over the years my support team has evolved, some people come in and out of my life but it is the connections you make at any given time that can have a tremendously positive impact on you and on your career journey. And maybe you need that one particular individual to get you to that next level and then they leave because their mission has been complete.
I started a women's support group this past week. My hope was that in a few months we would be a group of women that felt comfortable to share our stories, lift each other up, and give support when we needed it. I could not be happier that after I closed the meeting on Monday I sat back in my chair and had such a huge smile on my face. I was filled with such happiness. The meeting was even better than I could have ever imagined. These strong women opened up and shared their own career stories right from the start. They shared their strengths but also shared their challenges. It was such a great group of women that I can't wait until we meet again in 2 weeks.
If you don't feel like you have a strong support team around you, please take some time and create one. If you think of a leader that you really respect take a closer look. I bet if you do you will find a team of people that supports, elevates and cheers them on. Cultivate that team around you and you will be amazed on the success you will achieve.
