If you have more questions ask!

I believe every career journey is unique, and sometimes the most powerful step forward comes when you have the right support, guidance, and encouragement by your side. My role as a career coach is to help you find clarity, build confidence, and take action toward opportunities that truly fit you.

If you’re wondering what it’s like to work with a career coach, or if coaching is the right step for you, I’ve put together answers to some of the most common questions I hear from potential clients. My hope is that this gives you a better sense of who I am, how I work, and how coaching can help you move forward in your own career journey.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of clients land new opportunities, re-enter the workforce with confidence, and take bold steps toward careers that truly fit them. Their success stories are the heart of my work and a reminder that with clarity, strategy, and support, amazing things can happen.

Q: What is a career coach? A: A career coach is a partner who walks with you step by step through your job search or career journey. At SharpHR, I provide clarity, tools, and encouragement, from resumes and LinkedIn profiles to networking and interview prep, so you feel supported and confident every step of the way.

Q: Why did you choose career coaching as a career? A: I’ve always been passionate about helping people see their potential and take action toward new opportunities. With my background in HR, I understand both sides of the hiring process. Career coaching allows me to use that knowledge to empower job seekers and career changers to find opportunities that truly fit their personality, interests, and skills.

Q: How does working with a career coach benefit someone? A: Job searching can feel overwhelming. Working with a career coach gives you clarity about your direction, structure for your job search, and strategies to help you stand out. You’ll also have someone in your corner who supports you through challenging decisions and keeps you accountable so you can move forward with confidence.

Q: Why would someone choose to work with a career coach? A: Whether you’ve been in the same role for years, are re-entering the workforce, or just starting out, a career coach takes the guesswork out of the process. My programs provide the guidance and support you need to develop effective job search strategies, strengthen your resume and LinkedIn presence, and build confidence in networking and interviewing. Working with a coach helps you approach your job search from a stronger position and ensures you’re not navigating the process alone.

Q: Is career coaching the same as therapy or counseling? A: No. Career coaching is focused on your professional development, job search strategy, and career goals. While we may talk about confidence and motivation, coaching is about giving you clarity and action steps, not therapy or counseling.

Q: What happens in a career coaching session? A: Our one-on-one sessions are generally an hour. If you are working with me on an hourly basis you let me know what the topic is that you want to discuss. Every session is tailored to your needs. If you are enrolled in a package, our meetings could focus on your assessment results, LinkedIn, job search strategies to name a few. I’ll guide you step by step, provide resources, and make sure you walk away knowing exactly what actions to take next.

Q: How long does it usually take to see results? A: It depends on your goals. Some clients see results quickly after just a few sessions, for example, landing interviews with their new resume. Others may need more time to clarify direction or explore different opportunities. My goal is to help you make progress that feels meaningful, not just fast.

Q: What should a client know before working with a career coach? A: Coaching is a partnership. I’ll provide tools, structure, and guidance, but you’ll need to take action between sessions. The more you’re willing to engage in the process, the more value you’ll get. It’s a team effort, and I’m here to support you along the way.

Q: What’s expected of me as a client? A: Come ready to reflect, ask questions, and try new approaches. I’ll guide and support you, but your willingness to put things into practice is what drives results. Clients who get the most out of coaching are proactive, open-minded, and committed to their own growth.

Q: Do you work with clients virtually, in person, or both? A: I work with clients virtually, which means you can connect with me from anywhere. This makes it flexible to fit around your schedule and keeps the process convenient and accessible.

Q: How much does career coaching cost? A: It depends on a number of factors. I offer hourly and monthly rates as well as packages that encompass specific sessions depending on your individual needs such as assessments, targeting new opportunities, and resume/LinkedIn packages. Hourly coaching is great if you want help in a specific area, like interviewing or job search strategies. Monthly packages are ideal if you’d like more support for a short period of time. And maybe you work better knowing that you will have accountability with the career coach.

Q: Do you provide resumes, LinkedIn support, and interview prep as part of coaching? A: Yes, these are some of the most common areas clients need help with. We’ll build a resume that reflects your strengths, have a session on what the important elements are to your LinkedIn profile and how to use it for networking, engagement and job search strategies. We discuss interview strategies so you feel confident and prepared.

Q: Can you guarantee I’ll find a job? A: No one can guarantee that. What I can guarantee is that you’ll walk away with clarity, confidence, and a step-by-step plan that puts you in the strongest position possible. With the right tools and strategies, you’ll be ready when the right opportunity comes along.

Q: What makes your approach different from other career coaches? A: At SharpHR, I combine my HR and recruiting background with a supportive, practical coaching style. I know what employers are looking for, and I’ll help you present yourself effectively while also encouraging you to stay motivated through the ups and downs of a job search. It’s about clarity, strategy, and encouragement all in one.

Q: How will I know if coaching is working for me? A: You’ll feel it in both small and big ways. You might notice more confidence in networking conversations, a stronger resume that gets callbacks, or a clearer sense of direction. Clients often tell me they feel less stressed and more in control of their job search, and that’s when they know coaching is working.

Q: What can I expect from your coaching style? A: My approach is supportive yet practical. I’ll give you honest feedback, clear action steps, and the encouragement you need to keep moving forward. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I make the process feel less overwhelming and more manageable, while still keeping them accountable to their goals.

Q: What’s the ultimate goal of your coaching? A: My goal is not just to help you land your next job, but to give you clarity, tools, and confidence that you can use throughout your entire career. I want you to walk away with strategies you can rely on whenever you face a transition or new opportunity in the future.
